Nov. 2—Maple: Faith Lutheran Church will host its annual Bazaar and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Maple Community Center, 11037 U.S. Highway 2, Maple. Lunch and refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend.

Superior: The Douglas County Historical Society hosts a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historical society, 1101 John Ave.

Superior: Douglas County Trader's Village runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds, 4700 Tower Ave.

Superior: Superior Public Library hosts its Crafty Kids program at 10 a.m. Children will make a troll craft. No registration is required and all supplies will be provided.

Solon Springs: Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 11405 S. First St. W., will hold its annual Silent Auction and Dinner from 5-7 p.m. The public is invited to attend. There will be silent auction items to bid on ranging from kids' baskets to harvest produce, quilts, photography, art work, antiques, books and much more. There will also be bake sale items, pick-a-prize baskets and a pulled pork sandwich dinner with sides available. Proceeds go to support the church's mission and ministries including Wednesday School, Youth Group and supportive services for community members.

Superior: Reclaim Recovery, a recovery-pathway neutral support group, meets from 5:30-7 p.m. at 2911 Tower Ave., Suite 9 the first and third Saturday of each month. Join us twice monthly for a fun-filled, laid back, non Faith based meeting.

Superior: The Duluth Audobon Society hosts the Superior Entry Gull Watch on Wisconsin Point from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees are reminded to dress for the elements, bring a bag of bread and prepare to learn the finer points of gull identification. Superior: "Making Sense of Algal Blooms in the St. Louis River Estuary" will be presented by Euan Reavie of the Natural Resources Research Institute during the next River Talk at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Superior Estuarium, 3 Marina Dr. Reavie will present what's known so far about the evolving situation in the river and harbor, as well as plans for a collaborative monitoring strategy with the Lake Superior Reserve to address the current and future problems.

Solon Springs: A community campfire will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the pavilion behind Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Free brats, hot dogs and s'mores. All are welcome.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior hosts a Yellowjacket Family Fun Day in the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse at the Marcovich Wellness Center. The free event will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and will feature members of the UWS men's and women's cross country and track and field teams. Children will be able to play floor hockey, basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball and compete in races. Batting cages will be available, as well as yard games and crafts. Attendees will receive an autograph card that will also include a coupon for a free scoop of custard from Culver's in Superior, as well as a free youth ticket to a future Yellowjacket home game.

Superior: Home for The Holidays Bazaar and Bake Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 9523 E. U.S. Hwy 2, Poplar. The event will feature a soup and sandwich lunch, a cookie walk, an auction, a drawing and more.

South Range: The Parkland Community Group holds its eighth annual Holiday Expo at the Parkland Town Hall on County Highway K from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 30 crafters and vendors will offer a wide variety of items for sale. There will be $1 raffles, and food and beverages will be available all day. A mitten tree for donations of hats, mittens, gloves and personal care items will be set up. For each item donated, people will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Items will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club and Ruth House Free Store. Parking and attendance are free.

Superior: Cathedral of Christ the King hosts the opening of the Sanctus Concert Series at 7 p.m. featuring Machaut's Messe de Notre Dame. The vocalists featured include Michael Fuchs, Calland Metts, David Greenberg and Gunnar Molstad. This is a freewill offering concert.

Superior: Representatives from the Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minnesota will host a free program at 6 p.m. at Superior Public Library. The event will teach attendees about the facility, the cats that live there and how the community can support the sanctuary. The program is open to all, and refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.

Superior: The Humane Society of Douglas County partners with Cambell Lumber and Supply and Lady Jane Photography on its annual Santa Paws event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can come to Campbell Lumber and Supply to get photos with their pets/families for a donation to the humane society. Other merchandise will be available for purchase, including sweatshirts, T-shirts, fancy marshmallows from MN Marshmallow, fudge from Sweeden Sweets and more. Virtual Howliday Fundraiser items will also be available for pickup at this event.

Superior: The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse, Inc., will hold its second purse bingo fundraising event at the Belgian Club, 3931 E. 2nd St., Superior from noon to 4 p.m. Participants can win their very own trophy purse while their husband, partner and friends are occupied with finding that trophy buck on hunting opener weekend. Pay at the door; people ages 18 and up will be allowed to attend. The cost is $40 per game with 14 games. Availability is on a first come, first serve basis, with a maximum capacity of 230. There will be a cash bar, a 50/50 drawing and $5 walking tacos available. Brands will include a variety of purses and wristlets by Coach, Michael Kors and Kate Spade. Superior: UWS students will prepare various international dishes at the World Student Association's International Cooking Demonstration from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 820 Belknap St. UWS international students will demonstrate how recipes from their country or culture are prepared and provide samples to taste. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for adults and free for children under 10.
