Three-part 'Dreamers & Doers'
to kick off with Bay Park's CEO
"Dreamers & Doers," a three-part speaker series with insights and perspectives from global changemakers living in the Sarasota-Manatee region, begins on July 14 with A.G. Lafley, former Procter & Gamble CEO and founding CEO of The Bay Park Conservancy.
The event will take place indoors from 5:45-8 p.m. at The Bay Park, 655 N. Tamiami Trail, in Sarasota. Lafley's subject will be "Leading to Win." For more information and to purchase tickets, visit dreamlarge.org/dreamers.
The series continues on Aug. 11 with Michael Klauber ("Recipe for Success"), co-owner of Michael’s on East and Michael’s Wine Cellar. The finale is Sept. 8 with Michael Saunders ("Breaking Barriers"), founder and CEO of Michael Saunders & Company. Dreamers & Doers is presented by DreamLarge, a changemaking organization on the Gulf Coast that seeks to enrich the community through engagement, activation, and the arts. St. Mark's donates $150,000
to support Family Promise
Family Promise of South Sarasota County has received a $150,000 grant from St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Venice.
The gift was made possible through the tithing of a bequest to the parish and was presented to FPSSC executive director Jennifer Fagenbaum on June 15 at a parish-wide dinner in St. Mark's Gray Hall. St. Mark's has supported FPSSC since its founding in 2015.
FPSSC assists more than 100 families a year with services that include emergency shelter, financial education, employment counseling and rent and food assistance. Visit familypromisessc.org for information.
Educator chosen to serve
on Harvard alumni council
Dan Ceaser, the Head of School of Hershorin Schiff Community Day School, was recently selected to serve a four-year term on the Alumni Council of the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Ceaser’s term begins on July 1. The Alumni Council is an international committee of Harvard Graduate School of Education alumni selected by Harvard leadership to provide a connection with its growing network of alumni.
“I’m deeply honored,” Ceaser said. “Today’s educators face unprecedented challenges – the impact of the pandemic, the imperative of responding to gun violence, and the need to select curricula that serve our diverse students. ... HGSE is meeting these challenges head-on."
Ceaser is also a graduate of the Fisher School Leadership Institute at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He has a M.A. in teaching from American University and a B.A. from Colorado College. Ceaser also taught at the University of South Florida School of Education and served as a member of the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Principal Center Advisory Board.
Selby Foundation seeking
'Small & Mighty' applications
The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation's third-quarter Small & Mighty Grants cycle begins on July 1 for not-for-profit organizations. The cycle closes on Aug. 1 and grant recipients will be notified by Sept. 30.
The quarterly SAM grants were created for nonprofits with operating expenses less than $300,000. Since its inception last fall, eight organizations in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties have been awarded grants ranging from $2,800 to $20,000, covering needs such as technology, interior renovation, lighting and even sheet music. “The Selby Foundation Board realizes that many smaller organizations make a big impact," Selby Foundation president Carol Butera said. "They often just need one thing – a sign, a laptop, an awning – to help a person access necessary services. Through this process, we’ve made it easier for those organizations new to the grants submission process to participate and benefit.”

to benefit Forty Carrots
The Wine, Women & Shoes fundraiser for the benefit of Forty Carrots Family Center has been scheduled for Nov. 18 at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota.
The event helps to support Forty Carrots' mission of nurturing healthy child and family development and the prevention of abuse and childhood traumas. The event is presented by Venus Med Spa and co-chaired by Melissa Tomasso and Julie Weintraub.

• The Florida Department of Veterans Affairs offers free van service to Bay Pines VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg. The van departs the VA Outpatient Clinic, 5682 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, then stops at the VA Outpatient Clinic, 5520 State Road 64, Bradenton, before leaving for Bay Pines every Monday and Friday at 7 a.m. Volunteer drivers also are needed.
