'Coming 2 America': Wesley Snipes Joins Eddie Murphy For The Sequel

A Sequel To A Classic

Coming To America is a beloved romantic comedy from 1988, and star Eddie Murphy is trying to bring the magic back for a new millennium. A sequel, Coming 2 America, is coming to Paramount from Murphy and director Craig Brewer.

A New Character

Murphy will return as Prince Akeem (has he become king yet?) of the fictional nation of Zamunda, and Arsenio Hall is also set to play his best friend Semmi again as well. The Hollywood Reporter also reports that Wesley Snipes has joined the cast as neighboring ruler General Izzi.

A Fall Shoot

The original film focused on Akeem coming to America to find a wife, and allegedly the sequel will be about his quest to find his long lost son.

While no official filming start date has been announced, production is shooting for a fall start.
