A comic sequel to Avatar will be released on January 6
Avatar is getting a whopping four sequel movies from James Cameron, but it's already been more than a decade since we last visited Pandora.
Perhaps to test the waters and slowly reintroduce us to the fantasy world orbiting Polyphemus ahead of the 2022 release of Avatar 2, a comic sequel will debut next year before the second cinematic outing.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, a four-issue series called The Next Shadow will focus on Jake Sully trying to keep the peace immediately following the ending of the original movie.
It'll be Dark Horse Comics' third Avatar comic, but the first that isn't a prequel.
Excitingly, this series is being written by Jeremy Barlow, who wrote the fan-favourite Star Wars comic mini-series Son of Dathomir. Josh Hood and Gui Balbi will be providing art and covers, respectively.
Part 1 of the comic series will drop on January 6.
