Comedy, concerts and comic conventions: 12 things to do around Peoria in March

As winter comes to an end and we prepare for spring, the calendar is packed with performances and popular annual events.

Here are 12 things to do in the Peoria area in the month of March.

1. Lebanese food festival

The annual Lebanese Food Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at St. Sharbel Church, 2920 W. Scenic Drive. The dinner will feature cabbage rolls, meat pies, green beans and other Lebanese delicacies and baked goods, including baklava, pita bread, spinach pies, stuffed grape leaves and hummus. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 11 and under.

2. Peoria Ballet presents 'Cinderella'

Inspired by the beloved fairy tale classic, Peoria Ballet will perform its own version of "Cinderella" at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at Five Points Washington, 360 N. Wilmor Road, Washington. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students.

3. Rend Collective in concert

The Whosoever Tour with Rend Collective, featuring special guest Sean Curran, will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. Tickets start at $22 and can be purchased at www.peoriaciviccenter.com.

4. Night of comedy

Renowned comedian, podcast host and author Bert Kreischer will be returning to the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday, March 25, at 7 p.m. for his Tops Off World Tour. Tickets start at $39.75 and can be purchased at www.peoriaciviccenter.com.

5. 'The Price Is Right' live

The game show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. Randomly-selected contestants will play games like plinko, cliffhangers, the big wheel and the showcase. Audience members can win prizes from their seats. 6. St. Patrick's Day parade

The 41st annual St. Patrick's Day Parade steps off at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the corner of William Kumpf Boulevard and Monroe Street in downtown Peoria, following Monroe to Main Street, Main Street to Adams and ending at Adams and Fayette. 7. St. Patrick's Day street party

Kelleher's Irish Pub, 619 SW Water St., is hosting its annual St. Patrick's Day celebration on Friday, March 17. Turas will perform during the day, and breakfast will be served beginning at 8 a.m. There will be Irish food and drink specials all day, including Pattish Irish Stout on draft. There will be a live DJ outside, and the street will be blocked off for a street party.

8. Styx in concert

Multiplatinum rockers Styx will bring their 2023 World Tour to the Peoria Civic Center on Thursday, March 16. The band will perform songs from its 17th album, "Crash of the Crown," as well as hits from earlier albums. Tickets start at $49.50 and can be purchased at www.peoriaciviccenter.com.

9. Broadway in Peoria

The international award-winning Broadway hit "Legally Blonde — The Musical" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, and Wednesday, March 15, at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. Tickets start at $34 and can be purchased at www.peoriaciviccenter.com.

10. Peoria Players presents 'In the Heights'

Peoria Players will present its run of "In the Heights," based on the book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, with concept, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, from March 10-12 and March 16-19 at the theater, 4300 N. 11. Spring German festival

The German American Central Society will present Marchtoberfest from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Lindenhof, 7601 N. Harker Drive, Peoria. A German buffet will be served until 6 p.m. (or until food runs out) and cost is $14 for adults, $7 for children ages 6-10 and free for children ages 5 and under. The bar will be open until 8 p.m. and entertainment will be provided from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

12. Pop culture convention at Expo Gardens

Peoria Con, a celebration of comic books, gaming, cosplay and more, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 4, and Sunday, March 5, at Expo Gardens, 1601 W. Northmoor Road. This year's show will include special guests, comics, games and collectibles and a cosplay contest. Admission is $10 at the door.
