Comedy Central Picks Up ‘Crawford’ From ‘Trailer Park Boys’ Creator

EXCLUSIVE: The Trailer Park Boys are coming back to Netflix with a new season later this month, but Comedy Central is making a new series with the long-running mockumentary’s creator Mike Clattenburg. The home of The Daily Show and Canada’s CBC have picked up Crawford to potentially debut in late 2017.

The 13-episode first season of the Clattenburg and Mike O’Neill co-created show follows a nearly thirtysomething who is forced by circumstance to move back into his parents’ home and turn his ability with raccoons into a business. Crawford is produced by the Black Jesus co-creator and Laura Michalchyshyn’s Rabbit Square Productions. Janice Dawe and Kathy Avrich-Johnson will also produce for Bizable Media for the series which is expected to go into production next year.

“We are thrilled to bring the world of Crawford to life with CBC and Comedy Central. Have you experienced an unexpected arrival of raccoons, your mom’s lover, or the police knocking in the middle of the night?,” said the two Mikes and Michalchyshyn on Thursday. “The residents of Crawford Street have.”

The deal with the broadcasters on both sides of the border was negotiated by Maggie Pisacane of Frankfurt, Kurnit, Klein and Selz and Bizable Media for the EPs. Crawford will air on Comedy Central in the U.S. and public broadcaster the CBC in the Great White North at approximately the same time, sources say.

Clattenburg is repped by Gersh and managed by Echo Lake Entertainment.
