Leanne Morgan's new book, What In the World?! came out of asking just that — and now readers can join the comedian in head-shaking astonishment at her unlikely rise to fame.

What in the World?! A Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing at Life's Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings is out this fall from Convergent Books, and it's packed full of real talk, gut-busting stories and heartfelt moments, to boot.

"This book is a celebration of my wild ride from a child growing up in rural Tennessee to one of the top touring comedians in the country," Morgan tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. "I share it all, from the many mistakes to the triumphs. My story is a testament to the fact that it’s never too late, you should never give up and the importance of embracing it all with laughter and love."

Morgan's first Netflix special, Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman hit the platform with a splash in 2023 and her stand-up tour, Just Getting Started, sold out hundreds of arenas across the country last fall. Next, she'll be starring opposite Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell in the comedy film You’re Cordially Invited, written and directed by Nick Stoller.

The book will bring readers along on Morgan's quest to find her voice. We'll learn how she grew up as a butcher’s daughter, found a husband who has health insurance, practiced her stand-up technique selling jewelry at house parties, embraced the glories of aging and surrendered to the freedom of big, flesh-toned panties.

"I had a ball writing this book!" says Morgan. "It’s filled with my stories about being a daughter, a wife, a mama and a dreamer. It’s the journey of finding my own voice, strength and faith through the good times and bad. If you believe in blessings in disguise and using laughter to get through it all, this book is for you."

What in the World?! A Southern Woman's Guide to Laughing at Life's Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings will be published on Sept. 24 by Convergent Books and is available for preorder now, wherever books are sold.
