Comcast Names Former Hallmark Media CEO Wonya Lucas to Board

Wonya Lucas, former president and CEO of Hallmark Media Networks, has joined Comcast’s board as an independent director.

Comcast announced Lucas’s addition to the board, effective as of April 15, in an SEC filing Monday. She has not yet been appointed to serve as a member of any board committee, according to the filing.

Lucas was president and CEO of Hallmark Media, which operates Hallmark-branded cable networks, from 2020 until she stepped down from the role in the summer of 2023. During her tenure at the company, she worked to make Hallmark programming more diverse and inclusive while also building partnerships with platforms like NBCUniversal’s Peacock, YouTube and Hulu as well as free ad-supported platforms.

She was a member of Hallmark Media’s board of directors until April 2024. Lucas has served as a director of Atlanta Braves Holdings since 2023.

Prior to joining Hallmark Media, Lucas was president and chief executive officer of Public Broadcasting Atlanta from 2015 to 2020; president of Lucas Strategic Consultants LLC from 2013 to 2015; and president and CEO of TV One from 2011 to 2013.

Lucas’ appointment expands the size of the Comcast board to 12 directors.

Comcast’s 11 other board members are: chairman and CEO Brian Roberts; Kenneth Bacon (partner at RailField Partners); Thomas Baltimore Jr. (chairman, president and CEO of Park Hotels & Resorts); Madeline Bell (president and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia); Louise Brady (co-founder and managing partner of Piedmont Capital); Edward Breen (executive chairman and CEO of DuPont); Gerald Hassell (former CEO of the Bank of New York Mellon); Jeffrey Honickman (CEO of Pepsi-Cola & National Brand Beverages Ltd.); Maritza Montiel (former vice chairman of Deloitte); Asuka Nakahara (partner in Triton Atlantic Partners); and David Novak (former CEO of Yum Brands).
