Actor Columbus Short has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence and child endangerment following an arrest for domestic violence earlier this month, according to court documents.

Short, 39, was arrested Feb. 3, after police responded to a call regarding “a verbal altercation” between the former “Scandal” star and wife Aida Abramyan, according to People. Short reportedly told police Abramyan punched him in the face, although authorities didn’t note any facial injuries at the time. However, Short was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge after police detected “a minor injury” on Abramyan's face.

Short’s bail was set at $50,000, according to People, and he was released on bond at 1:45 p.m. the same day.

In the lawsuit, obtained by USA TODAY, Short’s domestic violence charge stems from his alleged injury of Abramyan, resulting in his wife’s “traumatic condition.” The incident also allegedly took place in front of a child, which the lawsuit states inflicted “unjustifiable physical pain and mental suffering” on the child, resulting in the child endangerment charge against Short.

The identity of the child was not disclosed in the lawsuit. Short has a son with ex-wife Brandi Short, a daughter with ex-wife Tanee McCall and two sons with Abramyan.

USA TODAY has reached out to Short’s reps for comment.

This is not the first time Short’s love life and legal troubles have collided. Short's ex-girlfriend Karrine Steffans and McCall both filed temporary restraining orders against Short in 2016 and 2014 respectively, according to People, for alleged threats of violence. In 2014, Short was also arrested in two separate incidents on charges of felony battery with serious bodily injury and public intoxication.

Short is most well known for playing Harrison Wright in the ABC political drama “Scandal,” which also starred Kerry Washington and Portia de Rossi. Short has also appeared in the films “Stomp the Yard” and “Cadillac Records.”
