Columbine High School Shooting Survivors Offer Advice To Teens Who Survived Parkland, Florida Shooting

Amy and Katie say they can relate to the teens who recently survived the third deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history in Parkland, Florida. The women survived the Columbine High School shooting almost 19 years ago, and say every time another shooting takes place, they re-live their horrific memories.

They also say that life has had its challenges during the almost two decades since they watched friends and teachers get shot by Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, and they offer advice to students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 students and faculty lost their lives.

“I want to tell your community and you children that I’m so proud of you and proud of your voices. And we are in awe of your strength, and you give us strength every day,” Amy says. “Please take care of yourselves. It’s a journey that you’re going to go through for the rest of your life, and I’m so sorry.”

In the video above, hear about The Rebels Project, a group Amy is involved with that connects survivors of mass shootings.
