Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has a pointed response — which includes claims of prejudice against him — to his 2014 DUI arrest.

Irsay, 64, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated nearly ten years ago, per ESPN. And in a new sit-down interview with Andrea Kremer on HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, he claimed “the arrest was wrong” as he revealed the reasons he believes were behind the misdemeanor charges.

When Kremer asked if the incident was “the low point” for Irsay, who has owned the NFL team since 1995, he said, "No. Not really because the arrest was wrong."

He then insisted that he wasn’t able to “walk the line” when police asked him to because he “had just had hip surgery and been in the car for 45 minutes.” He continued, “They asked me to walk the line. Are you kidding me? I could barely walk at all.”

Kremer clarified, “So you're saying you couldn't walk at all cause you had the hip surgery not because you were on any kind of painkillers?”

Irsay replied, “I'm not saying that. It's fact.” He then added that he pleaded to the misdemeanor charged “to get it over with” — and because he felt he was being discriminated against.

“Look, I am prejudiced against because I'm a rich, white billionaire,” he told Kremer. “If I'm just the average guy down the block, they're not pulling me in. Of course not.”

The seasoned sports journalist then asked, “What it’s going to sound like if people hear you say, ‘They’re prejudiced against a billionaire?’ ”

Isray replied that he’s unbothered by people’s opinions. “I don't care what it sounds like. It's the truth. Andrea, I could give a damn what people think how anything sounds or sounds like. The truth is the truth and I know the truth," he asserted.

Following his arrest in 2014, a source close to the Colts owner, who has long been open about his struggles with addiction, told ESPN that he “needs help.”

Police discovered “multiple prescription drugs” in Irsay’s car when they pulled him over under the suspicion that he was driving while intoxicated, the outlet reported at the time.

He reportedly failed several roadside sobriety tests and was arrested, according to police. Amongst the prescription drugs found in his car at the time were Xanax and Ambien, ESPN reported.

On Tuesday’s episode of the HBO series, though, he countered those claims as he blamed his instability on a recent “hip surgery.”

In response to his revealing interview, the Caramel Police Department, who issued the arrest, told the IndyStar, "We are very sorry to hear that comment about our officers and our department."

The statement continued, "We have a very professional agency consisting of officers that strive to protect our community with integrity and professionalism."
