Carson Wentz has a new team, and now he'll have a new jersey number, too.

Wentz, who was traded to the Indianapolis Colts last week, wore No. 11 with the Philadelphia Eagles, and has worn that number since his college days at North Dakota State. When a well known player like Wentz joins a new team, securing the same jersey number is usually a priority. No. 11 on the Colts belongs to wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., and Wentz found out shortly after the trade that Pittman wasn't about to give it up — not even to the team's new quarterback.

Fortunately, Pittman said that Wentz is fine with switching numbers.

"[Wentz] actually texted me about two hours after the news broke, and he just asked me how I felt about it, and I told him that I was gonna stay, and he said that that was cool and that he would switch numbers, and it was that easy," Pittman said on "Good Morning Football," via NFL.com. "I mean, he was a chill guy about it, so that was awesome."

Pittman told TMZ that he explained to Wentz how locked in he'd been wearing No. 11 during the 2020 season, and that's why he didn't want to make a change. According to Pittman, Wentz said "That’s cool, bro, because I’m probably gonna switch anyway."

Pittman was also pleasantly surprised that Wentz was so cool with everything.

"He asked me very respectfully and I just appreciated him for that," Pittman said via TMZ. "I think he’s a great dude, because lots of guys with his status, they would come in and demand and stuff like that."

Wentz may want to thank Pittman for staying firm on keeping No. 11. Considering how things ended for Wentz in Philly, it's probably a good idea to pick a new number and get a completely fresh start.
