When you think of “good hair,” qualities like shine, volume and thickness come to mind.

“We didn’t put more ingredients in, we took ingredients that cause dullness and build-up out,” Dr. Joe Cincotta, Ph.D., Director of Research & Development at Color Wow tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “By removing these things — leaving the conditioning, thickening de-frizzing to the secondary and tertiary styling products — combined with our sulfate-free technology, which won’t open up the cuticle and cause color to leach out, we managed to make a shampoo that is gentle and won’t deposit film and build-up on the hair and subsequently on the scalp.”

Color Security Shampoo uses a mild Japanese surfactant that gently cleanses hair while delivering the rich lather that comes with traditional shampoo.

“It’s not only important that it’s mild enough for the hair, but also the scalp,” notes Cincotta, who stresses the importance of a healthy scalp. “A healthy scalp will produce healthy hair — the two can’t be separated,” he adds.
