"It was very sweet," the Golden Globes nominee recalls of the smooch in the comedy "All Is Bright."

Colman Domingo's first onscreen smooch? Not who you'd expect, but a great one nonetheless: Paul Rudd.

The actor, currently garnering awards acclaim for his turns in Rustin and The Color Purple, shared the anecdote with W Magazine for its 2023 Best Performances issue.

The kiss occurred on set of the 2013 dramedy All Is Bright, which also starred Paul Giamatti and Sally Hawkins.

"This is a little-known Christmas movie we did maybe 10, 12 years ago," Domingo said. "I played this guy named Nzomo, who's a South African dude who works at a tree stand. Paul Rudd is a great improviser. In one scene, he turned me around and kissed me on the lips. It was very sweet, because he was excited about something."

"I thought, 'Hey, actually, that's my first screen kiss. Did you know that, Paul?'" he added.

In the film from director Phil Morrison, Rudd and Giamatti star as two shady French-Canadians who head to New York City to sell Christmas trees as part of a get-rich-quick scheme.

Domingo, an Emmy winner for his work on HBO's Euphoria, recently received his first Golden Globes nomination for his role as civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, an advisor to Martin Luther King Jr., in last year's Rustin.

He squares off against Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Leonardo DiCaprio (Killers of the Flower Moon), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer), and Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers) at the upcoming Jan. 7 ceremony. Blitz Bazawule's remake of The Color Purple, which features Domingo in the role of Mister, also received nominations for stars Fantasia Barrino and Danielle Brooks.
