Colin Firth Goes From 'King's Speech' to Kick-Ass in the First Trailer for 'Kingsman: The Secret Service'
Colin Firth, super spy? The Oscar-winning actor best known for more reserved turns in such films The King’s Speech and Love Actually makes his first foray into action movies in this new trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service, a cheeky espionage thriller from X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn.
Out in theaters this October, Kingsman is based on the comic-book series from Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar, who worked with Vaughn on Kick-Ass. It features plenty of bowler tips to ‘60s British spy heroes in its tale of a suave secret-service leader (Firth) and his reckless-but-resourceful recruit (newcomer Taron Egerton), as they and their fellow agents face down Samuel L. Jackson’s villain. Luckily, they have a walk-in closet-full of Bond-like spy-gadgets on hand to help them do battle. You didn’t Firth’s natty umbrella was just for the rain, did you?
