Colin Farrell is a private investigator determined to find a missing woman in the trailer for Apple TV+’s Sugar.

The Oscar nominee portrays John Sugar, who is hired to find the missing granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As he dives into her mysterious disappearance, the private investigator begins unearthing Siegel family secrets that were never meant to be uncovered.

Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler and Alex Hernandez round out the series’ cast.

“Another beautiful day in California,” Farrell’s Sugar opens the trailer. “Out here, I’m one of the good guys. But good and bad can be in the eye of the beholder.”

It isn’t long before things begin to go south for the private investigator, as people fight to get him to stop looking for the missing woman.

“Someone once said, ‘Tip the world on its side, and everything loose lands in Los Angeles,'” Farrell says toward the end of the two-minute video. “After all this time, is this place starting to turn me upside down?”

Sugar marks the second television project Farrell is set to star in. In addition to the Apple TV+ genre-bending series, he is also reprising his role as the Penguin in his The Batman spinoff for HBO Max.

Farrell serves as an executive producer on Sugar, alongside creator Mark Protosevich, directors Fernando Meirelles and Adam Arkin, Audrey Chon, Simon Kinberg, Sam Catlin, Scott Greenberg and Chip Vucelich.

The first two episodes of Sugar premiere on Appl TV+ on April 5, followed by one new episode every Friday until the finale May 17.
