‘Colbert Report’ Returns on ‘The Late Show’ Thanks to Jon Stewart

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is airing live all week long to cover the Republican National Convention. During Monday night’s show, Stephen was having a difficult time explaining how the Republican Party ended up with Donald Trump as their candidate. So Colbert thought he’d bring back the only person who could help, his Colbert Report persona.

Stephen had to find his alter ego first, so he went to a cabin in the woods to find his old Daily Show buddy, Jon Stewart. After explaining to him that Trump was the Republican candidate, since Jon claimed he doesn’t follow politics any more, The Colbert Report host jumped out of the cabin and made his way to The Late Show desk.

After changing the studio to make it look more like the Colbert Report, Stephen brought back an old segment, The Word. In the bit, the host talked as the punchlines appeared in a graphic next to him. When Colbert did this segment in the very first episode of The Colbert Report he created the word Truthiness, and this time he made up the word, Trumpiness.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35pm on CBS.

Jon Stewart got more than he bargained for on ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.’
