What is coincidence?: Back-to-back ‘Jeopardy!’ clues about Jan. 6 committee members

In a strange turn of events on Wednesday’s Jeopardy!, as Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney was the answer to a clue, followed immediately by a clue about something that’s been keeping her very busy lately.

The first clue under the category “The Representative From…” was, “Wyoming: This woman starting in 2017, taking the seat her dad had won nearly 40 years before.”

Contestant Yungsheng Wang correctly answered, “Who is Liz Cheney?”

The very next clue was, “Mississippi: Bennie Thompson who chairs the select committee investigating the events of this date in 2021.”

Contestant Alicia O’Hare correctly responded,” What is January 6th?”

Bennie Thompson and Cheney are both currently investigating former President Donald Trump, and his possible involvement in the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol.

Some viewers were happy to see the two clues, like this person who tweeted, “January 6th Committee and Bennie Thompson was just an answer on Jeopardy …right after Liz Cheney was an answer. People are paying attention.”While other viewers could’ve done without the political coincidence.

Regardless of how viewers felt about the January 6th committee clues, I think all Jeopardy! fans can get behind the way 3-day champion Yungsheng Wang celebrates a victory.
