Coi Leray details her estranged relationship with her father Benzino, distancing herself following a recent interview where he made controversial comments. Speaking on social media, the 26-year-old explained how she has not even been in contact with Benzino in quite some time.

“I want everybody to know I want nothing to do with anything my father has going on,” wrote the Grammy-nominated musician Wednesday (May 1) on X. “I haven’t spoken to him in over a year and I don’t condone or respect any of them interviews he got going on. I don’t respect his decisions and I really want nothing to do with him please dont even think of me when you see him.”

She continued in a secondary post, “Sharing the same DNA and blood DOESN’T make us FAMILY . Loyalty , boundaries , respect , teaching , guidance , love , patience , encouragement MAKES US FAMILY.”

Earlier that same day, a clip of Benzino’s interview on the We In Miami podcast shared across social media featured the former reality television star sharing support for R. Kelly, despite the disgraced R&B singer’s convictions for racketeering, sex trafficking, production of child pornography, and enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.

“Everybody deserves a second chance,” he exclaimed after being asked by the hosts if the Chicago singer, legal name Robert Kelly, should be granted forgiveness.

He later added, “I’m not condoning ni**as f**king with little girls. It’s sick,” continuing, “But I don’t think R. Kelly should rot in jail for 30 years either.

This is not the first time the father and daughter have publicly been one another’s opposition. In November 2023, the “TWINNEM” performer shared her dislike of her father’s online presence in regards to their relationship problems.

“I rather you just do that on a respectful level of just me being your daughter at the end of the day. We don’t gotta have a relationship, but I’m still your kid. It is what it is, so just respect the fact that what you’re doing is not cool,” she detailed.

“It just seems like every single time, instead of you congratulating me and being happy for me, you want to go online and try to use me to prove yourself to these people in this industry on why you feel like you didn’t get the respect, or whatever it is, that you deserve. I don’t want to be a clout kid.”
