Coffee lovers, get ready! French Truck Coffee ready to open third Memphis location

French Truck Coffee has a new location in Memphis.

French Truck Coffee will open its third location in the Memphis area at 732 Madison Ave. on Nov. 10.

Owner Geoffrey Meeker said he is excited about being one of the first tenants in the Orleans Station development located adjacent to the Medical District and Edge District of Downtown Memphis.

“Coffee shops change neighborhoods,” he said. “We hope to be a hub for the Edge District and the employees and students in the Medical District.”

The new 2,600-square-foot coffee shop was intentionally designed to be a gathering place. Seating options range from high-tops perfect for meeting with a friend for coffee to a quieter study nook that includes electric and USB plugs.

Locally roasted artisan coffees

The New Orleans-based coffee company specializes in providing artisan coffee that is roasted in small batches.

While the headquarters are in New Orleans, Meeker said everything served at his coffee shops is “done by Memphians in Memphis.” The Crosstown Concourse location of French Truck Coffee is also where all beans sold in Memphis (both in the coffee shops and in retail packaging) are roasted.

Options include lattes and cappuccinos, as well as specialty options such as pour-over coffees and Oji Japanese cold brew.

Meeker said the shop’s robotic “Pour Steady” Brewers allow baristas to highlight some of the higher-end coffees. “We use the same terminology as in wine,” Meeker said. “For example our ‘grand cru’ Columbian Chiroso is a single varietal bean — like how a merlot is a type of grape.”

Hungry? Here’s what is on the menu to eat

Waffle sandwiches, avocado toasts and freshly baked croissants from Hive Bakery are a handful of items available on the breakfast menu — which is served all day. For lunch, choose from options like a Goat Cheese and Pecan Salad and a Pesto Chicken Sandwich.

The kitchen at the new location is also a bit larger than at the two existing locations in Memphis. Meeker said he hopes the extra space will allow the kitchen to operate more efficiently and faster.

Will Keedy is the general manager for the new coffee shop. “I want to bring a loving customer vibe to the area,” he said, adding he has been in the coffee industry for more than 10 years. “We also want to bring a higher elevation of coffee culture to the Mid-South and the Memphis area.”

French Truck Coffee opened its roastery and first coffee shop in Memphis in 2017 in Crosstown Concourse. A second Memphis location opened in 2022 at 395 S. Highland. French Truck Coffee has nine locations in Louisiana. This is the brand’s 12th location.
