Cody Simpson has denied cheating on Miley Cyrus after photos caught him with Playboy playmate Jordy Murray. In a statement issued to Us Weekly on Monday, Simpson tried to set the record straight about how faithful he'd been to Cyrus.

"There is absolutely no truth to this story," Simpson’s representation told the publication. "Cody went out with a friend and all the rest is fabricated. Period." The Australian singer is likely hoping to keep the story from making any more news than it already has.

After the 22-year-old singer was spotted out with Murray, the New York Post also reported that he was seen surrounded by women at the Little Sister Lounge and allegedly kissed one of the women on the lips.

Following Simpson's denial, his sister Alli also tried to put any rumor of cheating to bed, confirming that Simpson was still with Cyrus. "They're together for sure," Alli told Daily Mail Australia. "[Jordy Murray] is his best friend Ryan McCarthy's girlfriend of a few years. He's visiting him for a couple days."

On the same day that Simpson was spotted with Murray, Cyrus released a brand new Christmas song called "Sad Christmas." That release is what started the rumors of a breakup between the two musicians.

Cyrus chose to post the song on her Instagram, and posted a caption that was designed to lift the spirits of anyone who felt sad themselves because of the holiday season. While it's a joyful time for many, there are plenty of people who struggle with it for one reason or another.

"A sad Christmas song I wrote a few years back right before the holidays," Cyrus wrote in the post. "Was feeling like s— cause I couldn't be with the one I loved. Even with a house full of family and friends I still felt alone . In ways that still feels relevant and someone reading this right now could possibly relate! If you feel lonely this season just know YOU ARE COMPLETELY MADE OF MAGIC! You are as special as a snowflake , beautifully unique and I hope inside your soul feels light, hope, peace, and joy knowing how singularly amazing YOU are! Love always wins!"

Cyrus's 2019 has already been incredibly eventful romantically. The singer recently announced her divorce from Liam Hemsworth in a social media post. Shortly after they announced the divorce on social media, Hemsworth made it official by filing for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences."

After a number of other short-lived relationships, Cyrus began dating Simpson in October. Through the earliest phase of their relationship, the couple was pretty open on social media. Lately, though, they've stopped posting pictures together online, which only fueled speculation that they'd split.
