Sometimes, love can turn deadly. For 14 seasons — and 140 episodes — "Killer Couples" has provided deep dives into shocking stories of couples who’ve been caught up in murders.
The show returned for a new season on Sunday with the premiere episode focusing on a military medic’s spouse who was viciously stabbed as she slept at home in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Here's what you you need to know about this twisted case spiked with claims of sex addiction, rampant infidelity, killer code words, manipulation, and a brutal murder.
Who was the victim?
Catherine Walker grew up in Albany, New York, where she married Michael Walker in 2003. Catherine was a devout member of the Mormon church and recognized as a standout leader of young women.
In 2014, Catherine, 38, and Michael, an Army medic at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, lived on base in Hawaii. Catherine, who loved music, movies, dance, and animals, hoped to have children one day.

On November 15, 2011, while Michael worked his night shift from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Catherine was savagely stabbed to death as she slept. Michael came home and found his slain wife lying in pools of blood. A knife from a kitchen block was near her hand.
Where did the investigation lead?
The Army Criminal Investigation Department interviewed Michael, who had his own theories about his wife’s death, according to “Killer Couples.” He told CID that Catherine was despondent about her repeated miscarriages and killed herself.
Investigators immediately dismissed that theory, as a medical examiner determined she had been stabbed multiple times in the neck and torso, reported the Washington Post in 2020. There was no way she could have plunged a blade from one side of her neck to another.
Officials observed no signs of forced entry or theft, but there was blood on a light switch and in Catherine’s purse. The extreme violence of the slaying suggested that it was personal.
How does sex addiction figure into the case?
Michael later confessed to CID that he was “a sex addict” who hooked up with women and men through Craigslist and other social platforms. He solicited money from some men for sex, and these people had access to the Walker home.
Investigators combed through Michael’s phone and computer records to turn up possible suspects — and one number showed up so frequently over three months leading up to the murder that it glaringly stood out.
The number belonged to 29-year-old Ailsa “Lisa” Jackson, who worked at a local movie theater and lived about a mile away from the Walkers. The constant texts suggested to investigators that the relationship between Jackson and Michael wasn’t just a quick fling.

What did authorities discover?
Jackson and Michael met through an online dating site in September 2014. She had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, a mental health disorder that can affect thoughts, mood, and behavior. At the time of Catherine’s murder she’d been off her meds, according to a 2020 Hawaii News Now article, because of a gap in her health insurance.
Jackson told Walker all about her mental illness, while Walker confided in Jackson about wanting his his "deepest desire" — getting Catherine out of his life, according to The Washington Post. The words “deepest desire” became secret shorthand used in their texts, and soon investigators realized their text messages contained other hidden codes.
