Warning: This post contains minor spoilers for Challengers.

It seems like the whole world watched Challengers this past weekend, including Coco Gauff. The 20-year-old tennis player made sure to tell the world she had time to watch Luca Guadagnino's latest film despite her busy schedule, taking to Instagram literally right after watching to share her honest thoughts.

On April 28, Coco Gauff, who's currently in Spain competing in the 2024 Madrid Open, went live on her Instagram account with her mom to share her review of Challengers. "Guess what movie I just got back from watching. Make your guess," she told her viewers, holding two magazines featuring the movie's official poster — yes, the same that Zendaya wore as a dress over the weekend — with the translated Spanish title, Rivales. “Anyone But You? No, y'all be for real. What movie did I just watch? C'mon now. What other movie would I be seeing? No shade, I like Sydney Sweeney, but it's Challengers, weekend baby.”

Gauff started her review by addressing the film's ending, trying not to give out too many spoilers. “The ending, I'm very like, 'Why did it end like that?' I don't know; Everybody was like, 'What?', so now I'm like, is there going to be a part two, or is it a one-off? I don't really know.”

Confusion aside, Gauff praised the movie for the accuracy of portraying tennies, which some had gripes with. "The tennis actually wasn't bad in the movie," Gauff explained. "There is a CGI ball, but the actual strokes and stuff were actually pretty damn [accurate]." She went on to say that while she immediately clocked the CGI ball as a tennis pro, her mother, who's an avid tennis watcher, couldn't clock it, which was a testament to the movie.

"Zendaya, Mike Josh, they all did a good job studying and doing the game correctly," Gauff continued — and they better have since her very own trainer, Brad Gilbert, was in charge of giving the stars their tennis training. Gilbert also has a cameo in the movie as Art Donaldson's Coach Karl, something that Gauff made sure to highlight both in her stories and her live review. "The German dude helping Art with his serve, that's my coach. Future Oscar nominee Brad Gilbert," she quipped. “I don't even think it's actually him speaking in the movie. I'm pretty sure they put a voiceover over him, but he did a little thing.”

Aside from commenting on general scenes from the movie, Gauff also gave us her own character study of Zendaya's Tashi Duncan. "Tashi is a trash human being. No, she is not a trash human being, but let's just say she is a villain," Gauff commented. "I didn't know if it's wrong, but I kind of see myself in Tashi."

Gauff went on to explain how she related to Tashi, clarifying that it's not in the romantic sense at all but rather in her approach to tennis. "You can't be no scrub out here," she said. "But also, at the same time, I don't agree with the way she uses that against Art, like trying to say he had to win. But when she's talking about herself winning, Tashi had that dog mentality, and y'all hated her for that."

Gauff also said that had she and Tashi played at the same time, they would probably have had some tension. "Tashi, girl, me and you would have been beefing if we played at the same time in juniors. Actually, we could have been beefing, or we could have been friends. Not close friends, [but] we would have been frenemies," she said.

Thankfully, in real life, there's zero room for beef with Zendaya, as Gauff revealed that the reason she even kept the posters from the film was to have Zendaya sign them at some point if they ever meet, something she's actively manifesting.

While, overall, Gauff felt Challengers "was great" and encouraged everyone to watch it, she did have a problem with one scene. "There are some things that weren't 100% accurately correct. I don't know why they gave my dude [Patrick] a time violation in between first and second serves," Gauff nitpicked. “You wouldn't normally get a time violation for that. That was wrong. [But] everything else was accurate.”
