Dexter actor C.S. Lee is joining the Cobra Kai fight, starring as an original Karate Kid franchise character for the TV series’ sixth and final season.

Lee will portray Master Kim Sun-Yung, a character previously seen only in flashbacks, reports our sister site Deadline. In the original Karate Kid film, the character was played by Jun Chong, while later, Don Lee took over the role for Cobra Kai. Master Kim is presumed dead and it’s currently unknown whether the Tang Soo Do pro will appear in the present day timeline or continue appearing in flashbacks.

Master Kim is the grandfather of Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim), a baddie who entered the series in Season 5 by Terry Silver’s (Thomas Ian Griffith) invitation. John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Terry were both trained by Master Kim, who was the creator of The Way of the Fist, a barbaric style of martial arts that opposed Mr. Miyagi’s teachings.

Lee’s other TV credits include East New York, Chicago Med, Silicon Valley, Chuck, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and more.

Cobra Kai announced its plans to end back in January of this year. “Our Day 1 goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined,” creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg said in a statement at the time. “While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger… We hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line because as we all know: Cobra Kai never dies.”

Since then, its Season 6 writers’ room shut down on May 2 due to the writers’ strike, inevitably delaying production. A premiere date for the final season remains TBA.
