Dig into Brooklyn-style pizza when Grimaldi’s Pizzeria comes to West Des Moines.

The pizzeria chain that originated in New York announced in a news release that it will open in West Glen Town Center in the former Club Envy and dueling pianos bar Blue Moon space at 5485 Mills Civic Pkwy. in West Des Moines.

Grimaldi’s announced its expansion to Iowa earlier this year, with plans for five locations across the state. The franchisee of this location is Tom and Annie Baldwin of Des Moines hospitality group Dark Side of the Spoon, which operates Wellman’s Pub, Italian restaurant Anna Dolce and more, West Glen Town Center property manager Troy Chipoletti said in an email.

Pamela Nedwetzky, marketing director of Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, confirmed the West Des Moines location will be a full-service restaurant in an email to the Des Moines Register. She said that it has not been determined when it will open.

The New York-style pizzeria uses a coal-fired brick-oven to cook its pizzas, which include versions topped with thinly sliced prosciutto and arugula as well as the Don, topped with Italian sausage, meatballs and pepperoni. The menu includes calzones, salads and desserts, along with gluten-friendly options.

The West Des Moines location will have a full bar.

Where's else will Grimaldi's open in central Iowa?

Grimaldi's already announced plans to open a location in Ankeny, inside the former Fong's Pizza space at the District at Prairie Trail, 1450 SW Vintage Pkwy. That location plans to open by the end of 2023. Grimaldi’s and Doughtime Pizza Company LLC will open a total of five restaurants. The Ankeny location will include approximately 4,300 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, with the main dining area holding approximately 160 seats.
