‘Coach Prime’ Renewed for Season 3; Amazon Also Orders Sports Docs About Madden Video Game, ‘ChiefsAholic’ Bank Robber and More

“Coach Prime” has been renewed for a third Season at Amazon Prime Video.

The docuseries, which centers University of Colorado Boulder football coach Deion Sanders, is executive produced by SMAC Entertainment’s Constance Schwartz-Morini, Michael Strahan, FredAnthony Smith, and Jamie Elias as well as showrunner Micah Brown.

The news was announced at Amazon’s 2024 upfront presentation, during which the company also announced greenlights for four new sports documentaries: an untitled Earnhardt project, an untitled “Madden NFL” project, an anthology titled “Game 7” produced by Danny DeVito and a true crime doc titled “ChiefsAholic: A Wolf in Chiefs Clothing” produced by Drake.

The first project centers the Earnhardt NASCAR family, led by Dale Earnhardt Sr., who is often thought of as the biggest name in the sport’s history. The doc is produced by Imagine Documentaries, NASCAR Studios and Everyone Else in association with Dirty Mo Media. Executive producers include Imagine’s Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Sara Bernstein and Justin Wilkes; NASCAR’s Matt Summers and Tim Clark; and TJ Martin, Dan Lindsay and Tony Mayhoff.

The untitled “Madden NFL” doc will chronicle the EA Sports video game’s 8-bit origins while also following the production of the next annual release. The doc is produced by A+E Factual Studios, SMAC Productions, Misher Films and MTP. Executive producers include Kevin Misher and Andy Berman for Misher Films; Strahan, Schwartz-Morini and Smith for SMAC Entertainment; Mike Tollin for MTP; Sandy Montag for the Montag Group; Steve Ascher, Kristy Sabat and Jessica Conway for A+E; Daryl Holt, Seann Graddy and Julie Foster for EA Sports; and Nathan Caswell, Jeremiah Zagar and Jeremy Yaches for Public Record. Caswell and Zagar are set to direct.

“Game 7” is a five-part anthology focusing on the climactic ends of seven-game series in various sports, from the Chicago Cubs’ 2016 World Series victory after more than a century without a championship, to the New York Rangers’ Game 7 win in the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals. Daniel Amigone directs “Game 7,” which is produced by Words + Pictures. Connor Schell, Aaron Cohen and Anneka Jones executive produce for Words + Pictures; Mark Messier, Mat Vlasic and Isaac Chera executive produce for Game 7; and Danny DeVito, Jake DeVito and Lucy DeVito executive produce for Jersey Films 2nd Avenue.

“ChiefsAholic: A Wolf in Chiefs Clothing” will tell the story of Xaviar Babudar aka ChiefsAholic, whose wolf costume and social media antics gained him popularity as one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ biggest fans before he was later arrested for a string of bank robberies. Babudar himself is interviewed in the doc, which is produced by DreamCrew Entertainment, North of Now, and Five All in the Fifth Entertainment. Dylan Sires serves as director. Executive producers include Aubrey Drake Graham of DreamCrew, Andrew Renzi of North of Now and Douglas Banker of Five All in the Fifth.
