Don Lemon reacted Friday morning to being called out by Dave Chappelle in the comedian’s surprise George Floyd special, released by Netflix at midnight.
ACW: Make no mistake, this has nothing to do with the health of children, or their parents, or their grandparents, or teachers and support staff or anyone else. This is a purely economic move. As long as there is no place to put the kids, the parents are stuck with them at home. Trump's entire argument for his re-election is 'I'm good for the economy', but the economy is in the outhouse (with rationed TP, no less). As for kids being 'less susceptible' ... as far as we know. But the name 'novel coronavirus' reminds us that this is a *new* virus, and we are learning about it through experience, trial-and-error. We don't know whether recovering from infection confers more than temporary immunity; emerging evidence suggests it doesn't, and that you can get reinfected. We discovered the hard way that asymptomatic carriers could become 'superspreaders'. We thought it didn't affect kids much, until a new syndrome emerged that actually killed some. We figured it was primarily a respiratory disease, but evidently it affects multiple body systems, including causing blood clots. And on top of everything, there's more than one strain. So pardon me if I'm not taking DeVos's word on anything.
