CNN Tallies News Demo Ratings Win, Fox News Takes Total Viewers

CNN is celebrating a news-demo ratings victory for nine of the last 11 days in total-day tallies. That’s because it’s the first time the cable news network has pulled that off since March 2011.

CNN also beat Fox News and MSNBC for eight of the last 11 nights in primetime in the news demo, but that’s only a first since December 2015.

Meanwhile, Fox News ranked as the top network among basic cable in total day viewership (1.452M), during the week of October 10-16, making it a ninth consecutive week, according to Nielsen.

FNC has ranked No. 1 in total day for 15 of the past 16 weeks. The channel was also ranked No. 2 in primetime, only behind Fox Sports 1, with 2.494M total viewers. For the last 20 weeks, FNC has ranked as one of the top two networks in all of cable in primetime in overall audience.

This past week, FNC claimed 10 of the top 25 most watched cable telecasts, including various telecasts of The O’Reilly Factor, The Kelly File, Hannity, and Special Report With Bret Baier.

MSNBC (1.615M) topped CNN (1.471M) in primetime total viewers for last week.
