CNN set loses it after airing viral video of sea lions chasing beachgoers
On CNN Newsroom With Alisyn Camerota and Victor Blackwell Wednesday, the anchors, and the crew working behind the cameras, all lost it after showing a video that went viral over the weekend. In the video, taken near San Diego last Friday, two sea lions charged as dozens of beachgoers scrambled. Camerota and Blackwell began to laugh as they played the clip, with Camerota providing the color commentary.
“Look at how fast these sea lions move. I didn’t think that they could waddle quite that fast,” Camerota said. “But they are chasing all the beachgoers away. These are sea lions. They’re charging. The woman who took the video says someone was trying to take a photo of them when they suddenly woke up.”
Blackwell was laughing so hard when the video came to an end, Camerota asked, “You enjoying this?” Blackwell began laughing so hard as he spoke, he could barely get the words out. “I don’t know why, I just imagine their little sea lion voices cursing these people out and then chasing them around the beach,” Blackwell said. “And just cursing these people out.”
While Blackwell was attempting to explain what he found so funny, multiple people can be heard off camera also laughing, either at the video or Blackwell’s reaction to it.
“You’d think the ocean would be big enough for all of us, but no,” Camerota said. “Oh, man,” Blackwell said as he began to regain his composure. “That’s what I needed.”

VICTOR BLACKWELL: You know, I'm a bit of a beach baby.
ALISYN CAMEROTA: Yeah, I know you love the beach.
VICTOR BLACKWELL: Yeah, I do love the beach. And I like a nice nap on the beach. Sometimes though there's just too many people. And maybe that's what set off these two sea lions on a beach near San Diego.

VICTOR BLACKWELL: Oh my.
ALISYN CAMEROTA: But they are chasing all the beachgoers away. The woman who took the video says someone was trying to take a photo of them when they suddenly woke up.
KYLIE MAR: The woman who captured the video said she started recording because it was funny to see all these tourists getting blown away by these giant sea lions. And it's fair to say that Blackwell was pretty tickled by it too.
VICTOR BLACKWELL: I just imagine that little sea lion voices cursing these people out and then chasing them and just cursing these people out trying to sleep.
ALISYN CAMEROTA: You'd think the ocean would be big enough for all of us, but no.
VICTOR BLACKWELL: Oh man, that's what I needed.
