Where and when can I watch the documentary?

"Call Me Country: Beyoncé & Nashville's Renaissance" from CNN FlashDocs comes to Max on April 26. It will be available starting Friday at 3:01 a.m. EDT and 12:01 a.m. PDT.

What makes 'Cowboy Carter' so impactful?

As fans know, Beyoncé first announced the album during a surprise Super Bowl commercial in February. Simultaneously, she released the album's first two singles "16 Carriages" and "Texas Hold 'Em," and they instantly took the internet by storm.

The album also dominated social media once it was released on March 29. Beyoncé has since broken many records and made history, and it's clear her strides are avalanching conversations about Black artists in country music and the history of the genre. It's clear Beyoncé is not only impacting the country music sphere but the music industry as a whole.

Prior to the release of the album, Beyoncé opened up about creating the project. In a post on Instagram she wrote: "This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive."

In a news release for the film, Warner Bros. Discovery wrote: "Beyoncé’s highly anticipated album 'Cowboy Carter,' released March 29, arrived during a revolution within country music as the latest arena of the culture wars in America. Some in the industry are welcoming more diverse artists, while others stick to a much narrower view of a genre that predominately centers around straight, white men."

Who is featured on Beyoncé's new album?

Beyoncé made a point to include country music legends such as Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, as well as prominent genre-bending artists like Miley Cyrus and Post Malone. She also featured country music pioneer Linda Martell, who is largely considered country's first prominent Black artist.

It's worth noting Martell became the first female Black artist to hit the Top 25 of Billboard's country charts in 1969. Furthermore she was the first Black woman to appear on the Grand Ole Opry stage, making 11 appearances between 1969 and 1975. While she is considered a trailblazer in the genre, her career was short-lived because she didn't get the flowers she deserved.

Additionally, Beyoncé collaborated with present-day emerging Black artists and put a huge spotlight on their careers, including Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Reyna Roberts, Brittney Spencer, Shaboozey and Willie Jones.

In the words of Kennedy, Beyoncé is "putting all of us on a platform that, you know, we can only dream of."
