CNN's Abby Phillip panics on-air as lizard crawls on her

White House correspondent Abby Phillip interrupted a live segment on CNN’s New Day, because a lizard was crawling on her.

While political analyst David Gregory was making his points in a discussion centered around the Mueller report, Phillip began moving around and reacting to something just off-screen. At one point, she made a quick, high-pitched noise.

“Hold on, Abby what is attacking you?” host Chris Cuomo interrupted.

While Phillip continued her struggle, Gregory chuckled at the incident and Cuomo’s co-host, Alisyn Camerota, wondered if it was a mouse that was causing the issue. But Phillip finally gathered herself and revealed the culprit.

“There was a lizard climbing on me, sorry,” Phillip said.

Everyone on screen got a good laugh. But the conversation didn’t stop there, as Cuomo wondered about the fate of the lizard.

“Did you just stomp out a lizard on live television?” Cuomo asked.

Phillip didn’t elaborate much but did say, “I don’t think it’s okay, but I’m fine.”

Many viewers on Twitter applauded Phillip’s handling of the situation, but some didn’t like the implication that she killed the lizard.

Phillip’s co-worker, Betsy Klein, later Tweeted her first-hand account of the incident and revealed the fate of the lizard.

As a veteran journalist, Phillip, found a way to put her own positive spin on the situation in the moment.

“The perils of being outside,” she said. “At least it wasn't an alligator.”
