CNBC International President John Casey Steps Down After 29 Years

EXCLUSIVE: CNBC International President John Casey is leaving the business news network after almost 29 years, per an internal memo.

Casey told staffers the news on Thursday morning, revealing that he will be exiting CNBC’s London headquarters on November 7.

“It’s finally time for me to move onto my next chapter,” he said in an email. “From my first day at EBN (the precursor to this company), I knew live business news was the place for me, and the extraordinary people I’ve had the privilege of learning from, and learning with, have reinforced that realisation for me.”

A CNBC International spokesman confirmed the exit today. “John Casey informed the company today that, after 29 years, he has decided to leave CNBC to move on to his next chapter,” they said in a statement issued to Deadline. “John had many contributions and successes at CNBC helping us to become the world leader in business news.”

We understand CNBC’s Senior Vice President Keith Cocozza will be based in London as a succession plan is organised. He’ll work alongside President KC Sullivan and the senior managers team to lead the international organization in the interim. London-based CNBC International Vice President of Events & Programming Nick Wrenn and Singapore-based Vice President, News & Partnerships Rosie Vaswani will coordinate editorial operations through CNBC Senior Vice President, Business News Dan Colarusso for TV and Senior Vice President and Executive Editor for CNBC Digital Jay Yarow for digital.

Casey joined CNBC nearly three decades ago and rose to hold several senior roles, culminating in his 2020 promotion to Managing Director and President of CNBC International. He’s credited with overseeing for the news network’s editorial output outside of the U.S, and building out its operations and audiences across TV, digital, social, audio and live events. He also oversaw a network of local language CNBC affiliates around the world.

The news comes six months after the exit of CNBC’s Anchor and Senior International Correspondent Hadley Gamble, whose complaints about ex-NBCUniversal boss Jeff Shell led to his departure. Other key departures this year include Senior White House Correspondent Kayla Tausche, who later joined CNN.
