CMT Smashing Glass will honor Tanya Tucker, Patti LaBelle: Who's performing and how to watch

Country Music Television will air its new all-genre special "CMT Smashing Glass: A Celebration of the Groundbreaking Women of Music,” honoring notable women in music, on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CST.

The show aims to highlight women in the music industry who have "smashed glass" themselves, blazing trails for future generations of female artists through their music, careers and inspirational stories.

CMT special to honor Patti LaBelle, Tanya Tucker

The "Smashing Glass" special will honor icons Patti LaBelle and Tanya Tucker with tribute performances from other artists before they take the stage themselves. Performances will be woven into a night of storytelling, showing tales from the careers and lives of LaBelle and Tucker.

LaBelle, an American R&B singer, has been called the "Godmother of Soul," and is known for songs "On My Own," "Lady Marmalade" and "If Only You Knew." Tucker, an American country artist, is revered for hits like "Delta Dawn" and Two Sparrows in a Hurricane."

LaBelle and Tucker will also sit down for a conversation with Sheryl Crow before taking the stage.

During the special, performers Amber Riley, Lucie Silvas and Mickey Guyton will honor in song some of the late women of music with moments of respect to Aretha Franklin, Sinead O’Connor and Tina Turner.
