The Clydesdales are back! Budweiser teases new Super Bowl commercial

The Clydesdales are back.

After leaving its Clydesdales hitch on the advertising sidelines for last year’s Super Bowl LVII, Budweiser parent St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch announced Thursday that the animals would return in a new TV spot for Super Bowl LVIII, set for Feb. 11.

In a 15-second video posted to social media, Budweiser teases the new ad, showing six of the iconic draught horses climbing a snow-covered hill with a snow-covered barn and mountainside in the background.

The ad — described by the company as a “timeless message of resilience, determination, and coming together over a beer” — will be part of 2 ½ minutes of national advertising time purchased by the beermaker during the game. Other ads will promote its Michelob Ultra and Bud Light brands.

Last year, Budweiser opted for a regional Super Bowl ad, dubbed “Six Degrees of Budweiser,” featuring actor Kevin Bacon narrating as a six-pack of Bud is passed from person to person and finally, the viewer. It was only the second time in 37 years that Budweiser skipped the national broadcast of the NFL’s biggest game. In 2021, the beer brand sat out the Super Bowl, choosing instead, it said, to focus on raising awareness about the COVID-19 vaccine in partnership with the Ad Council.
