What's that we hear? A Clueless reboot is in the works, but it doesn't feature lead character Cher Horowitz? Ugh, as if!

Instead, the new reimagining of the hit '90s film is set to focus on Cher's best friend Dionne (played by Stacey Dash in the original movie) and is described as being "a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fuelled look" at LA in 2020, according to Deadline.

But despite the drug talk, the reboot actually sounds less like HBO's Euphoria and more like Riverdale-meets-Pretty Little Liars as it follows Dionne as she becomes the most popular girl in school following Cher's disappearance.

As she's left dealing with the pressures of being popular, Dionne is also left trying to unravel the mystery of what happened to her best friend.

Written by Will & Grace's Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey and executive produced by American Gothic creator Corinne Brinkerhoff, it's early days for the reboot yet – but Deadline adds that it's already drawing a lot of interest from streaming sites and broadcast networks like The CW.

The original Clueless was released as a film in 1995, starring Alicia Silverstone as Cher and Stacey Dash as Dionne, as well as Paul Rudd, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto and Brittany Murphy.

It later spawned a TV series in 1996, with Rachel Blanchard taking over the role of Cher.

Of course, this isn't the only time Clueless has had (or attempted to get) the reboot treatment, as last year it was revealed that Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver was working with Glow's Marquita Robinson on a reboot series that didn't really go anywhere.
