Oct. 7—The rock band Gin Blossoms and country music's Kip Moore will headline the 37th Clovis Music Festival this spring, officials announced on Friday.

The festival is scheduled April 19-20 at the Curry County Events Center.

"Music is in our roots," Music Festival Committee Chair Robyn Snowberger said in announcing the lineup.

Snowberger said Clovis has people from across the world visit Clovis to celebrate the history of rock 'n' roll. Norman Petty's recording studio on West Seventh Street gave us all of Buddy Holly's hit records as well as Buddy Knox's "Party Doll" and "Sugar Shack" by Jimmy Gilmer & The Fireballs.

"We have a lot of music history here and it's been fun to recreate it every year," Music Festival Committee Member Marcy Anaya said.

April 19, a Friday, has been declared country night. Micky & the Motorcars will be the opening act for Moore.

Moore has released five studio albums for MCA Nashville and has charted 12 songs on Billboard's "Hot Country Songs" list. He's recorded four top-10 hits. Some of his biggest hits include "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck," "She's Mine," and "Hearts Desire."

Bringing the Red Dirt Music Scene to Clovis, Micky & the Motorcars combines alternative country and rock. The band formed in Stanley, Idaho, and now based in Austin, Texas, has released nine albums.

Bowling for Soup is slated to open for Gin Blossoms on April 20.

Best known for its platinum album "Congratulations I'm Sorry" that came out in 1996, Gin Blossoms is an American alternative rock band formed in 1987. The band was nominated for a Grammy Award for the single "As Long as it Matters."

Bowling for Soup gained recognition during the early 2000s for its collaboration with Disney. Hits include "Stacy's Mom" and "High School Never Ends."
