Close to the Enemy: Angela Bassett gets jazzy in clip

Have they cloned Angela Bassett? In the last year alone, the actress has been seen in American Horror Story, London Has Fallen, and Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq, and heard playing awards-whisperer Ana Spanikopita in the mighty BoJack Horseman. Now, Bassett (or one of her genetically-engineered duplicates) is starring alongside Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe), Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), and Alfred Molina (Boogie Nights), in the 1946-set drama Close to the Enemy, which premieres on Acorn TV today.

Written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff, and centered around a bomb-damaged London hotel, the show tracks intelligence officer Captain Callum Ferguson (Sturgess) as he attempts to convince a German scientist (August Diehl) to start working for the British on developing the jet engine, and encounters a number of other interesting folks, including a jazz pianist played by Bassett.
