Clive Owen Joins Julianne Moore in Stephen King and JJ Abrams’ ‘Lisey’s Story’ at Apple

Clive Owen is joining Julianne Moore in “Lisey’s Story,” the upcoming Apple+ limited series from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams.

Based on King’s best-selling novel from 2006, Apple gave the project an eight-episode order in April.

“Lisey’s Story” is a deeply personal thriller that follows Lisey (Moore) two years following the death of her husband. A series of events causes her to begin facing amazing realities about her husband that she had repressed and forgotten.

Owen is set to play Lisey’s husband, Scott Landon.

“Lisey’s Story” will be Moore’s first starring TV series gig. The actress previously starred on HBO’s film “Game Change” as former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, and had a recurring role on “30 Rock.”

King, Moore and Abrams will executive produce alongside Bad Robot’s Ben Stephenson. Every episode was written by King. The series hails from Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

This will mark Abrams’ third project with Apple. He also has “Little Voice” with Sara Bareilles and “My Glory Was I Had Such Friends” with Jennifer Garner. This also is the third collaboration between King and Abrams, who previously partnered on Hulu’s “11.22.63” and “Castle Rock.”

Abrams and his production company Bad Robot are currently under a film and television deal with WarnerMedia.

“Lisey’s Story” is one of several adaptations from King’s novels in the works or in production. It joins his two Hulu series, “Castle Rock” and, as Deadline reports, its upcoming “Eyes of the Dragon” pilot; CBS All Access upcoming adaptation of King’s acclaimed 1978 novel, “The Stand;” Audience’s adaptation of “Mr. Mercedes;” and upcoming HBO series “The Outsider.”

Owen is known for “Closer,” “Children of Men” and “The Knick.” He was most recently seen in Will Smith’s “Gemini Man” as Clay Verris.
