Climate Protesters Block Entrance to NY Newspaper Printing Plant on Earth Day

Climate activists from Extinction Rebellion blocked the entrance to a newspaper printing site in Queens, New York, for a time on the morning of April 22, or Earth Day.

The activists said the act of civil disobedience was “intended to disrupt the distribution” of The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today. The papers were “failing to cover the climate emergency with the frequency it deserves,” Extinction Rebellion claimed.

Emergency services were on the scene.

There was an unconfirmed report one person was arrested after a vehicle drove through the protesters.

An ABC 7 reporter on the scene said that delivery trucks were seen exiting the premises as the protest ended. Credit: Extinction Rebellion NYC via Storyful
