‘City On Fire’ Canceled After One Season At Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has decided to not move forward with a second season of its drama series, City on Fire.

The news comes after season 1 of the show concluded earlier this year. Deadline first reported the news, and as the trade publication notes, unlike Silo and Hijack, the adaptation of the novel of the same name, City on Fire received very little buzz, now making the show a limited series though seeds were planted for a season 2.

City on Fire was executive produced by showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage alongside Jesse Peretz, who also served as director for four episodes. Lis Rowinski of Fake Empire served as co-executive producer.

The premise of the series followed a suburban teenager, Charlie played by Wyatt Oleff who “must unravel the mystery of his friend, Samantha played by Chase Sui Wonders, after she’s shot in Central Park on Fourth of July in 2003. As the crime against Samantha is investigated, she’s revealed to be the crucial connection between a series of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep.”

Alongside Oleff and Wonders, Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner, Alexandra Doke, Omid Abtahi, Kathleen Munroe and John Cameron Mitchell rounded out the cast.
