‘The Circus’ Cuts Vacation Short To Dive Into Lewd-Tape-Gate
Showtime’s campaign documentary series The Circus has decided to cut short its vacation and return to air this Sunday because, duh.
The Circus said it is ending its planned two-week break to “cover the fallout from the dramatic new developments in the presidential race.”
The real question is, what the heck was a series documenting the presidential race doing taking a two-week break at this stage in this clown car of a campaign cycle?
That dramatic new development of which The Circus speaks is, of course, Friday’s Washington Post release of a 2005 Access Hollywood audio/video tape in which the GOP’s candidate, back then starring in NBC’s reality series The Apprentice, tells then-NBC Access Hollywood host — and now-suspended NBC News Today host — Billy Bush that he’s so famous he can kiss and grope women with impunity.
Or, as Full Frontal’s Samantha Bee described the tape, the “hostile work environment training module.”
The Circus stars — Bloomberg Politics managing editors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann and campaign strategist Mark McKinnon — also are sure to delve into the fallout, including Trump’s pre-debate photo op with women who claim to have been attacked by Bill and Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Paul Ryan’s decision to never campaign with Trump and stop defending him though continuing to endorse him, etc.
The critically praised show is back at 8 PM Sunday and has promised to stay at work through the November 8 election.
