Cinephil Picks Up Hot Docs Jury Winner ‘God Knows Where I Am’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Tel Aviv-based sales agent Cinephil has acquired international rights to Jedd Wider and Todd Wider’s “God Knows Where I Am,” which won the special jury prize at Hot Docs and is set to have its European premiere at IDFA.
“God Knows Where I Am,” which marks the directorial debut of long-time documentary producers Jedd and Todd Wider, turns on Linda Bishop, a mentally-ill homeless woman who spent four months alone in an abandoned farmhouse, living off of rainwater and apples, waiting for God to save her, during one of the coldest winters on record.
Jedd Wider, meanwhile, said he and Todd made the film “to shine a light on a social problem that is all around us, yet not addressed adequately (…) and bring some dignity back to a person who died so tragically.”
The documentary feature is narrated by Lori Singer, the actress of “Footloose” and “Short Cuts.”
Hot Docs jury described “God Knows Where I Am” as a “film of great beauty and tenderness that illuminates a hidden problem of vast proportion with an epic yet intimate cinematic vision.”
The film has so far played at over 30 film festivals. Bond/360 is planning a theatrical release in North America in April 2017.
Cinephil will kick off sales at IDFA’s forum Docs for Sale which runs Dec. 17-23.
