Cindy Crawford Showed Kaia Gerber Videos of Models Falling Before Her First Runway Show

“I didn’t even know you could fall this many different ways.”

Any up-and-coming model would kill for a lesson with '90s supermodel Cindy Crawford, which her daughter Kaia Gerber gets at her fingertips. But when it came time for Gerber's first runway show, Crawford took to YouTube and prepared for her big moment in the spotlight in an unconventional way.

During Gerber's appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she revealed that some of her greatest lessons ahead of hitting the catwalk for the first time included compilation videos of models falling down on the runway, shown to her by Crawford. “I didn’t even know you could fall this many different ways,” Gerber told the talk show host.

“I remember right before I was going to do my first-ever fashion show, she sat me down and had my whole family gather around and played me compilation videos of models falling,” she continued. “I think to be like, ‘This is the worst-case scenario.’”

Luckily, being great at runway runs in her DNA: Gerber officially hit the runway when she was 16 years old, walking in Raf Simons’s FW 2017 Calvin Klein show during New York Fashion Week. Since then, the Bottoms star has managed to keep steady on the catwalk. “Knock on wood, I haven't ever fallen. I think she scared me enough that I didn't fall."

These days, Gerber is pivoting her skill set to acting before fashion season kicks in again. The 22-year-old stars as Mitzi in Palm Royale, which tells the tale of "an ambitious woman [who] schemes to secure her seat at America's most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society circa 1969." The episodes are streaming now on Apple TV+.
