Cindy Crawford Shares the Deeply Personal Things About Her That the Camera Will Never Capture

As one of the biggest supermodels in history, much of Cindy Crawford‘s life has been captured on camera. And while we can all think of at least a few iconic moments from Crawford’s repertoire over the years, from her fierce runways walks to her iconic Pepsi commercial in the 90s, it seems there’s still a lot Crawford manages to keep private.

Talking to Flaunt Magazine as their new cover star, Crawford broke down the major things about her that will never be fully captured on a camera lens. “I don’t think a camera can capture how much I try to be a good wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend,” Crawford told the outlet.

Crawford, who has been happily married to husband Rande Gerber since 1998, shares daughter Kaia, 22, and son Presley, 24.

Speaking of her kids, Crawford also talked about her daughter and how she’s fiercely walking in her mother’s modeling footsteps. “One of the unexpected things about Kaia now being in fashion is that it has given us the opportunity to work together and to see each other than just mother and daughter,” she said.

And, as the 22-year-old has become more established in her career, Crawford’s role in helping Kaia has evolved through time. “Definitely, in the beginning, I was Kaia’s ‘momager,'” Crawford admitted. “But as she has found her own way, I have stepped back and have really allowed her to make her own decisions. I try not to give my opinion unless she asks for it.”

A lot of that great parenting, of course, most likely stems from Crawford’s own reflections on her decades-spanning career. “If I could go back, I think I would tell my 15-year-old self to not take things quite as seriously,” Crawford said thinking of her younger self. “I think I missed out on some opportunities because I was afraid I didn’t belong—I call it the Emperor’s New Clothes syndrome.” Looks like Kaia has the best person by her side for support!
