Chucky TV series coming to Syfy

Dig this: A very famous animated killer doll is getting his own TV series.

Syfy has given a straight-to-series order to Chucky, which follows the murderous exploits of the red-haired doll possessed by the spirit of a serial killer. The show will be created by Don Mancini, who wrote the film franchise. Mancini will pen the adaptation, direct the first episode, and serve as showrunner.

In this rebooted version of Chucky’s story, a small town is terrorized by a string of murders following the appearance of a vintage Chucky doll at a yard sale. Friends and enemies from Chuck’s past may reveal the truth behind the killings and shed light on the doll’s “untold origins.”

Chucky hit the big screen in 1988 with Child’s Play, which was based on a story by Mancini and produced by David Kirschner (who also serves as an executive producer of the new series). Six sequels followed, all which Mancini wrote: 1990’s Child’s Play 2, 1991’s Child’s Play 3, 1998’s Bride of Chucky, 2004’s Seed of Chucky, 2013’s Curse of Chucky, 2017’s Cult of Chucky, and 2019’s Child’s Play remake.
