Chucky Breaks Into A Brewery So You Can Now Drink Like Your Favorite Serial-Killer Doll

Chucky has a message for all you pumpkin spice-loving assholes. He’s got a beer he helped make this fall just for you with its own “bloody” twist.

Ahead of the Season 2 premiere of his self-titled series on USA Network and SYFY, the murderous doll collaborated with Elysian Brewing to create a very limited offering of Chucky: A Killer Wit Beer, a pumpkin witbier with (blood-red) cranberry.

Elysian is known for its expertise in pumpkin beers. The Seattle-based brewery started brewing its first one back in 1997, back when Chucky was just getting started and before he had even met his love, Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly), in 1998’s “Bride of Chucky.” In the years since, Chucky has racked up a body count while Elysian has gone through dozens of different types of pumpkin beer. The brand even holds an annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival Presented by The Vera Project that includes filling and tapping a giant gourd.

“I don’t think there is a beer style that hasn’t had the insult of pumpkin slapped across it,” Dan-o Beyer, the cellarmaster at Elysian jokingly said in a tasting call with media who got a sneak peek at the beer, pointing out that pumpkin beers can now be found in a range of styles including IPAs and sours.

Witbier, a lighter Belgian style that translates to “white beer” and is traditionally spiced with orange and coriander, works particularly well with the cranberry (blood red, of course) along with flavors of chamomile and cinnamon.

“The balance on this beer is gorgeous,” said Taylor Tobin, a food and drinks writer during the tasting. “No one element overpowers the other, and the light profile is so refreshing, since I generally associate pumpkin beers as having a somewhat heavier weight.”

The taste might be the only thing that’s light. For those that need a refresher, Chucky, created by director Don Mancini, is a doll possessed by the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray. While fleeing from detective Mike Norris in the original 1988 film "Child's Play," Charles performs a voodoo spell that peels his soul out of his human body and into that of a Good Guy Doll, a must-have toy during the holiday season — it was the 1980s, so think Teddy Ruxpin but terrifying and with those classic red locks and overalls.

A trailer released by Elysian for the beer recalls the classic transformation. Chucky has broken into the brewery, creepily asks an unsuspecting worker his trademark “Wanna Play?,” smashes up some pumpkins, leaves a puddle of blood, and generally terrifies the unfortunate brewer before jumping into a beer fermenter. The next day, another brewer takes a sip and might be possessed by the spirit of Chucky.

The beer is available at limited bars, where there’s a killer custom knife tap handle, as well as stores across the country. To find if the beer is available near you, go to Beer Finder at Elysian Brewing.
