Christopher Darden Finally Reveals He and Fellow O.J. Simpson Prosecutor Marcia Clark Were 'More Than Friends'

Not kissing – but definitely telling.

Christopher Darden told Entertainment Tonight on Monday that he and fellow O.J. Simpson murder trial prosecutor Marcia Clark "were more than friends" during the infamous 1994 court case.

"We were inseparable back then," said Darden, now 60. After further prodding to divulge the nature of the relationship, he added, "I think I have told the truth. In lawyer land, a half-truth is a truth."

The pair was front-and-center on Emmys darlingThe People v. O.J. Simpson earlier this year, but neither real-life party has confirmed a possible connection outside of the courtroom (despite much speculation), preferring to leave it at least a little ambiguous.



And while Darden told ET he "really can't remember the details," he was sure of one thing: He and Clark never kissed.

"I'm not a kisser. Kissing is intimate. Kissing is more intimate than sex," he explained, later describing he and Clark's pairing as "fire."

Why? Because, he said, "fire's passion" – not "romantic."

Darden wed wife Marcia Carter in 1997, and the pair share three children. Clark, now 63, has two sons from her second marriage.

Just last weekend, Clark returned to the spotlight, accompanying Sarah Paulson – who portrayed her in the Ryan Murphy-backed miniseries – to the Emmys, where the actress won the trophy for outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie before shouting out Clark in her acceptance speech.

Clark and her former co-counsel haven't kept in touch, Darden said, but "I think if I called her tomorrow we'd probably laugh our butts off. Talk about our kids and people and talk about how we miss some people from the trial."

Clark has also addressed the nature of her friendship to Darden, insisting to Ellen DeGeneres earlier this year that they were "trenchmates."

"He was my partner, and I can't tell you how important it was to have him there."
