Christine Brown is celebrating her independence after marrying David Woolley in October.

On Wednesday, the Sister Wives star, 51, revealed that she worried about the loss of her independence in a monogamous relationship after being in a plural marriage to Kody Brown along with wives Janelle, Meri and Robyn. She and Kody split in 2021 after 25 years together.

“I was always concerned I would lose my independence in monogamy,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a smiling selfie. “I realized the other day, being married to the right person (David for me!) that I am more independent than I ever was! #strongwoman #independent #strongerthanever #blessed”

In the comment section, Woolley praised Christine for her support, writing, “I had surgery last Friday. I’ve never been taken care of like Christine has done for me. I have the best wife and soulmate that anyone could have, she is my angel love you so much Christine Woolley!!❤️”

After ending her marriage to Kody, Christine reflected on the lessons she learned from the experience in an interview with PEOPLE.

“I thought we were open. I thought we knew everything, and I thought that we understood how big this world was,” she told PEOPLE of herself and fellow sister wife Janelle. “But once I left, I was really like, ‘Oh my gosh, there's a whole world out here, I feel like I can take a deep breath. And there's possibilities and there's amazing stuff on the other side of polygamy.’”

She continued: “For me, because I felt so much freedom and so much happiness and so much joy not living it anymore.”

Christine told PEOPLE that Woolley “has more integrity than anybody I know. He built his business while he was being a single dad, so it’s everything to him.”

“His word is his bond, and it means everything to him.... If he says he’s going to do it, he’s going to do it,” she continued.
