"I would’ve been in my sweatpants, and I’d be laying in bed,” Applegate said. “What fun is that? No. I would be the worst housewife.”

Christina Applegate loves reality television — but she has no interest in being part of it.

On the latest episode of her MeSsy podcast, which she co hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, the self-proclaimed Bravo obsessive dropped a major bombshell on the world: “I was asked to be a housewife for Beverly Hills,” she revealed.

The news caught Sigler and the episode’s guest, Martin Short, completely off guard. Applegate elaborated, explaining that she was offered a spot on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills around “10 years ago” but passed.

“And what’s funny is I ended up becoming really good friends with the executive producer of it because our kids went to school together,” she continued. “And he’s like, ‘Oh yeah, we asked you.’ I said, ‘Chris, now that you know me, would I have been a fun housewife?’ He’s like, ‘No, it would’ve been the most boring s--- I’ve ever seen in my life.’”

The actress couldn’t help but agree that she would have been a dull addition to long-running Bravo series. “I wouldn’t have shown up to any dinners, I would’ve been in my sweatpants, and I’d be laying in bed,” Applegate confirmed. “What fun is that? No, none of that. No. I would be the worst housewife anyway.”

Earlier in their conversation, Short admitted that he doesn’t watch any reality TV because he is “exhausted” by the screaming and dramatic personalities. The Dead to Me actress, who doesn’t share his gripes with the genre, then detailed the origins of her recent obsession.

“I just started two years ago when I got diagnosed,” said Applegate, who has long been public about her battle with MS. “In the two years that I’ve been watching from my bed, I have watched probably, what? 300 hours of reality TV, I would imagine. Probably more.”

Short then asked, “Would you wanna hang with a lot of those people?”

“No. Not at all,” Applegate said immediately, then amended, “No, some of them, I’m actually friends with some people now. But more from Below Deck… I have slipped into their DMs and become friends with Captain Lee [Rosbach], Kate Chastain, and Daisy [Kelliher].”

Outside of forging quiet friendships with the yacht crew of Below Decks, Applegate certainly hasn’t been quiet about her Bravoholic status. Just last week, the actress put Andy Cohen on blast by demanding answers when headlines first emerged about Robyn Dixon’s potential exit from Real Housewives of Potomac.

Unfortunately, Applegate and her fellow Dixon stans had their worst fears confirmed on Monday, when the OG RHOP star announced she had been fired from the show. On the bright side, there are plenty more housewives for Applegate to enjoy from the comfort of her bed.

You can hear Applegate talk reality TV in the podcast episode above.
