Married … with children! Christina Applegate’s family means everything to her — especially as she navigates her journey with multiple sclerosis. "The most important person in this world is my daughter," the Dead to Me alum said in November 2022 while receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “You are so much more than even you know. You are so beautiful and kind and loving and smart and interesting." The Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead actress, who shares daughter Sadie with husband Martyn LeNoble, continued: “I’m blessed every day that I get to wake up and take you to school. You are my everything. Thank you for standing by me through all of this." Applegate and LeNoble tied the knot in February 2013, two years after welcoming their only child together. Applegate is also stepmother of the guitarist’s daughter Marlon. “My family. My people,” the actress tweeted in November 2022 alongside a photo of her children and husband at the ceremony, during which she went barefoot due to her struggle with MS. “All in doc martens. But me and my tiny toes !” The Bad Moms star announced her diagnosis with the disease — which “impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, which make up the central nervous system and controls everything we do,” per the MS Society — in 2021. One year later, she got candid about her diagnosis during a Zoom appearance on the Kelly Clarkson Show. “People had seen me as this other person for the last almost 40 years, and I'm different now,” she explained. “It's incredibly hard. I don't want to be the fish in the fish tank, but I'm going to do my best to just get through it, I suppose." Despite the intense challenges of working on set amid the illness — Applegate called filming the final season of Dead to Me “the hardest thing I had ever done in my life” — she was determined to finish out the series. "To be honest, being diagnosed with MS last year and what had happened to my body, to my mind, to my spirit, to my everything, of course I didn't want to be around anyone or talk about it," she told Clarkson. “But I had to go to work. I was not forced to go to work, but I made sure we finished the show." In addition to her close relationships with her husband, daughter and stepdaughter, the cast and crew of the Netflix series “was [also] a part of my family,” Applegate noted, specifically calling out costar Linda Cardellini and creator Liz Feldman. “Everyone there is my family, and there's a story we needed to finish. And I pushed as hard as I could through that. It was really incredibly difficult." “I didn't know what was happening to me,” the Anchorman actress continued, revealing she was diagnosed with MS while filming. “I couldn't walk. They had to use a wheelchair to get me to set." In February 2023, Applegate — who was married to Jonathan Schaech from 2001 to 2005 — called the 2023 SAG Awards her “last awards show as an actor, probably” due to the physical limitations of MS in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. As for what she plans to do instead, Applegate joked, “A s—t-ton of voiceovers to make some cash to make sure that my daughter’s fed and we’re homed."Sign up for Us Weekly's free, daily newsletter and never miss breaking news or exclusive stories about your favorite celebrities, TV shows and more!
